LISA THALER L.C.S.W.

There are many issues that a band may struggle with including substance abuse, inadequate communication, poor conflict resolution, the tension between music as an art form vs. music as a business, issues of power, ego, control, individual needs vs. collective needs, productivity, performance anxiety, writer's block, autocratic leadership vs. democratic process, romantic involvement, negotiating fame and success, and confusion regarding shared goals.

As a band Psychotherapist, I will provide a calming presence and a stable, safe environment in which we will explore problems and improve communication and conflict resolution. We will look to strike the balance between confrontation and compromise, ascertaining when to just let the music do the talking.
I will encourage a shared band ideology that recognizes individual needs. I will nurture creativity by addressing issues such as performance anxiety and writer's block. Together, we will formulate and accomplish band goals, always maintaining a focus on the music.
